As the cost of producing a news headline has reached zero (with the move from the printing press to the internet) the art of the headline has been abused.
Clever wordplay has been replaced in large part by deceitful headlines designed to get you to click through to a website. Otherwise known as ‘Clickbait’.
‘Man tries to hug a wild lion, you won’t believe what happens next…’ is a classic example.
How cunning, then, that a Dallas Bookstore has abused the abused system by using clickbait to their advantage.
